// This photograph was created in the summer of 2018, many years after being away from my homeland - the lost paradise of Bosnia, site of the 1990s genocide. To protect my childhood memories, I had created an imaginary black curtain, so that everything before the war was locked away in a box that I didn’t have access to. Surviving in another country meant forgetting. Until 2018, when I summoned up the courage to revisit. It was also the year when the Sarajevo Cable Car, which had been destroyed during the war, reopened with the support of my godmother and her husband. They invited me to take a ride up the mountain for a hike. And there it was - the view I would capture in this photograph. It was as if the curtain suddenly lifted and my memory came rushing in - green, vibrant and alive - as though the woods had kept it safe, untouched by time or man, like an enchanting fairy tale from childhood I always return to. \\ - Tajna Tanović
